Animes similar to SAO(Sword Art Online)

Recently I have seen this topic on the internet, like “What animes are like SAO” or “Something similar to SAO” or “SAO related animes ” and I wanted to answer this topics, that SAO fans will stop searching and watch this animes I will write here before SAO season 2 will be released….

Some people say that .hack was realesed before SAO and SAO copied the storyline after .hack, SAO being a rubbish anime. THAT ISN’T TRUE!!!!!!!!!!The light novel Sword Art Online was realeased in 2002 and after few months .hack was realeased too, but .hack anime TV series were made faster than SAO so people can speculate that .hack was first, but that is a BIG LIE! So the “internet” would probably suggest you .hack, BUT DON’T even try to watch it because, in my opinion it’s a very meaningless anime, wasting your time with it. So I won’t recommend you .hack.

Animes similar to SAO are:

  1. 1.      Accel World

Plot Summary: Haruyuki is an overweight kid and at the bottom of the food chain at his middle school. Within the sci-fi setting of the real world he often seeks refuge in a virtual one. One day however his life changes when he is given an opportunity by the prettiest girl in the school no less, to integrate the two by means of a program called accelerated world. There is a catch however, in order to keep this add-on he must score points by fighting others within the realm of this new virtual world.

It’s a 24 episode anime, with a cool storyline, action , a bit romance, and a second world, I highly recommend it :).

  1. 2.      Hunter x Hunter (2011)

Plot Summary:  Gon Freecss is a young boy living on WhaleIsland. He learns from “Hunter” Kite, that his father, whom he was told was dead, is still alive somewhere as a top “Hunter,” risking his life to seek unknown items, such as hidden treasures, curiosa, exotic living creatures, etc. Gon decides to become a professional Hunter and leaves the island. To become a Hunter, he must pass the Hunter Examination, where he meets and befriends three other applicants: Kurapika, Leorio and Killua. Can Gon pass this formidable hurdle, the Hunter Examination, to become “the Best Hunter in the World” and eventually meet his father?

You can’t say about this anime that is very similar to SAO but it’s ok, very good action, funny, and it’s ongoing so you won’t end it fast.

  1. 3.      Fate/Zero (2011)(TVseries)

Plot summary:  War of the Holy Grail – Pursuing the power of the “Holy Grail” which grants a miracle, this is a contest in which seven magi summon seven Heroic Spirits to compete for it. In that battle whose conclusion was postponed three times, now, the fourth war commenced again. Entrusting their dearest wish of victory, the magi joined the battleground called “Fuyuki”, but amongst them, there was a man who was always alone, and could not find out the meaning behind his fights. His name was Kotomine Kirei. Not comprehending the guidance of fate, Kirei was lost, and had kept questioning. Why someone like his was given the Command Seals. However, the fate of his fights crossed Kirei’s path with a nemesis by chance. That person is – Emiya Kiritsugu. A man who was sterner than anyone else, more merciless than anyone else, and who sought the miracle of the Holy Grail. Merely recited in fragments in Fate/Stay Night, this is the Fourth War of the Holy Grail 10 years ago. The truth which unfolded behind the battle between Shirou’s foster father, Rin’s father, and the younger Kotomine Kirei, is finally revealed…

It’s a cool 25 episodes anime, it’s 17+  so I don’t recommend it to you if  you’re under, it has good action, violence, it brings back memories about Shaman King, but it’s better.

  1. 4.      Summer Wars

Plot Summary:  Kenji Koiso, an eleventh grade math genius, agrees to take a summer job at the Nagano hometown of his crush, Natuski. When he arrives, he finds that her family have reunited to celebrate the 90th birthday of the family matriarch. His job is to pretend to be Natsuki’s fiancé. Meanwhile, his attempt to solve a mathematical equation causes a parallel world’s collision with Earth.

It’s a funny anime, cool one, I recommend it!

  1. 5.      Mirai Nikki

Plot Summary:  Yukiteru Amano is a 14-year old loner who spends much of his time dispassionately recording events around him in his cell phone “diary.” His only friends are imaginary ones: Dues ex Machina, the “god of time and space,” and Murmur, Dues’s impish helper. Yukiteru’s life takes a turn for the strange when his diary starts recording events before they happen and Dues announces that he’s not so imaginary after all, and a turn for the sinister when his diary announces his own impending death. It turns out Yukiteru has become part of a survival game in order to determine who will succeed Dues as the god of time and space, competing with 11 others who also possess diaries that predict the future in various ways,. But Yukiteru does have at least one strong ally: Yuno Gasai, a fellow classmate who despite being a Future Diary holder herself is determined to protect Yukiteru at all costs. She’s also an obsessive and possibly crazy stalker who’s own Future Diary records Yukiteru’s every move in ten minute intervals.

Nice storyline, this anime is a “have to see” one.
